The newest addition to the NYCB Family of Banks, AmTrust Bank was founded in 1889 in Cleveland, Ohio, where it served customers for 118 years under the name “Ohio Savings Bank.” In 2007, it changed its name to AmTrust Bank to better reflect the scope of its franchise. After all, in 1995, Ohio Savings Bank had acquired AmTrust Bank, FSB, a Florida-based institution, and in 2000, it had opened its first branch in Arizona under the AmTrust Bank name.

On December 4, 2009, the former AmTrust Bank commenced operation as a division of New York Community Bank, the savings bank subsidiary of New York Community Bancorp, Inc., and one of the largest savings banks in the United States. As such, it has become a member of a strong and solid banking family that traces its roots to April 14, 1859, when it was founded in the New York City borough of Queens.

Today, the AmTrust Bank division of New York Community Bank serves its customers through 29 branches in northeast Ohio, 25 in the coastal communities of southern Florida, and 12 branches in Phoenix and the surrounding communities of Maricopa County.

In the second quarter of 2010, the Ohio Savings Bank name will be restored when all 29 of our branches in northeastern Ohio commence operation as the Ohio Savings Bank Division of New York Community Bank.
